The College of Modern Montessori specialises in training students to become Montessori teachers. This enables accredited students to teach at Montessori schools, to use Montessori methods in their homes, or to start their own Montessori schools. There are four main methods by which Montessori teacher training can be completed: full-time courses, part-time courses, distance learning courses.
Distance / Home Studies is available to anyone in any country around the world. Tutors guide students through course material, which students study at home in their own time. There is no final examination and the course is usually completed in one year. Many students make use of e-mail to correspond with tutors.
Part-time Studies with two evening lectures per week. This is a very intensive one year course which carries MACTE accreditation.
Full-time Studies (Johannesburg, South Africa
only). Students are required to attend The College five days a week, from 9:00am
to 2.30pm during school terms. Philosophy, theory, guest lecturers, supervised
practice, material-making three days a week; observation and teaching practice
on the remaining two days. This one year course is internationally accredited
(MACTE).
